By obeying them you will enjoy a long life in the land you will occupy when you cross the Jordan River.&#8221; (Dt 32:47 NLTse)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;so many Christians try to live the Christian life without reading their Bible, except for sporadic perusals of God&#8217;s Word, seeking a pithy thought for the day. The Word of God is not merely a source of helpful suggestions, preventive warnings, or inspirational thoughts: It is life itself!\u00a0 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; God commanded His people to bind His words on their hearts, to teach them diligently to their children, and to regularly discuss them in their homes <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">(Dt 6:4-9)<\/span>. So essential was His Word that it was to hold a prominent place in the daily lives of His people.\u00a0 Our reverence for God&#8217;s Word is revealed not only by what we say but also by what we do. Spending more time reading and studying the words of people rather than the Word of God reveals our hearts\u2019 condition. To blatantly disregard God&#8217;s Word is to reject life itself&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">[4]\u00a0&#8220;Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone.* <\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">[ Or <i>The L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i> our God is one L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i>; <\/i> or <i>The L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i> our God, the L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i> is one; <\/i> or <i>The L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i> is our God, the L <\/i><i>ORD <\/i><i> is one. <\/i>][ Or The LORD our God is one LORD; or The LORD our God, the LORD is one; or The LORD is our God, the LORD is one.] <\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">[5]\u00a0And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. [6]\u00a0And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. [7]\u00a0Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. [8]\u00a0Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. [9]\u00a0Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
